Metaplastic Breast Carcinoma: A Case Series with Three Different Presentations

Metaplastic Breast Carcinoma (MBC) is one among the rare types of breast carcinoma. MBC was recognised as a separate entity by World Health Organisation (WHO) in 2020. According to WHO, metaplastic carcinoma classified into six based on histology which includes: low grade adenosquamous carcinoma; fibromatosis like squamous cell spindle with heterologous mesenchymal differentiation; and mixed carcinomas. This type tumour shows both epithelial and/or elements within same lesion. The management these patients remains an enigma due rarity treatment responses between following therapy. In present case series, five cases their follow-up have been described. All were females age group 50-65 years. underwent modified radical mastectomy. Lymph node involvement noted case. Metaplastic breast carcinoma with extensive osseous differentiation: a case report.

We present a case of a 77-year-old female who had a metaplastic breast carcinoma with extensive osseous differentiation. Her mammogram showed a largely calcified mass, but the pathology revealed that the calcification was ossification. The radiologic differentiation between an osteoid matrix and a dense calcification is discussed. Radiologic and pathologic correlation is also provided.
